The wordings opens to a broad array of interpretations, for example:

How do you portray one's identity?

Do you see the person as how other people see them?

Do you see what they have encountered?

etc.

The UK is always associated with rain, therefore I painted these rain drops in the background subtly suggesting the location.

The hand gesture suggesting the eager one's wanted to be seen.

The cracks are symbolising my ethnic background, it was inspired by a wall painting from ancient China which is now on displaying in British Museum.
It is representing the influence of Chinese culture and how it icontinue to affect my identity in the present day.

I experimented with various methods to recreate the crakle effect that appears on the wall painting, including drawing, painting, crumbling paper, spray paint and rabbit skin glue, etc. While each approach has a unique result, the most effective way is to use crackle paste. However it is not cost effective and limited to the size of the cracks.
